About The Role

It's an exciting time at Falmouth Exeter Plus as we support two Universities, both of whom are working to realise their 2030 strategies. We support over 10,000 users with more than 20,000 connected devices across Cornwall and the world. The IT & Digital mission is to “Drive Innovation and Deliver Trusted Technology”. We do this in a fast-moving environment where agility and a positive approach to change and enhancement are essential.
 
In support of this we are now looking to recruit a Network Specialist to join the platform and infrastructure team.
 
The successful candidate will manage and lead on securing, developing and supporting a large and complex Cisco based Campus Network, and will have a good understanding of Cisco Wifi and network management tools, including Prime and DNA Centre.
 
It is an exciting time as we grow the Digital & IT Directorate to meet the needs of our university partners as they continue to move ahead with their ambitious growth plans. You will have the support of the wider IT Service Delivery team and have the autonomy to lead on major network projects.

About You

The successful candidate will be reporting to the IT Service Delivery Manager. You will be responsible for overseeing a significant number of delivery projects as well as managing standard day-to-day BAU issues. This includes ensuring the timely delivery of KPIs and managing the balance of time between BAU and project work.
 
The ideal candidate would have the following experience:
 
  • High-level experience of working in a senior networking role
  • High level knowledge of Cisco or similar large networking support
  • Cisco CCNA or better
  • Knowledge of Fortigate Firewall appliances or similar Next Gen Firewalls
  • Experience of working with key stakeholders
  • Managing significant projects
  • Technical documentation
  • Business case development for major capital projects
  • An Understanding of risk management
  • Windows server infrastructure
  • Change control

This is a permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week position working Monday to Friday. We are able to offer this role on a hybrid basis with a mix of on-campus and at home working.
