About The Role

FX Plus are seeking a motivated, customer focused Senior Library Assistant to join our team. Providing operational support and specialist assistance to a range of students and staff across multiple sites, you will work flexibly within a team to ensure effective, efficient library service in both the physical and digital space. You will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of high-quality academic library services for Falmouth University and the University of Exeter, and will work toward the continuous, innovative development of an agile and progressive library environment.
 
Your key responsibilities in this role will be to contribute to the running of library processes; involving but not limited to, acquisitions, resource list management, daily circulation, archives & special collections, promotional content creation and systems administration. The Senior Library Assistant Team respond to enquiries and liaise with colleagues across various departments including Estates Management and IT as required.

About You

It is essential that candidates for this role have experience working in a customer facing environment. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to confidently engage with all users of the library, good technological skills including knowledge of MS Office Applications, and the willingness and ability to problem solve is required for this role. Alongside these key skills, we are looking for candidates with a flexible attitude to working hours and a can-do attitude with a keen interest in developing within the library.

  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision

This is a permanent, part-time, 22.5 hours per week, 36 weeks per year position.
 
The role will require on campus working.  The working days will be Monday, Thursday and Friday (09.00 am - 17.00 pm) with a rota for Saturday or Sunday working (10.00 am - 18.00 pm), with Thursday being a day off on those weeks.  The working weeks of the role will be determined by University term-times with a two week break at Christmas and Easter.
