About The Role

We are now looking to recruit an Online Tutor to join our BA Hons Interior Design (Online) team in the School of Architecture, Design and Interiors. Your role will involve working on a level 6 module which is titled ‘Future Environments: Work, Rest and Play’ which will challenge students to develop a personal design pathway and investigate the future of interior design through the lens of workspace, residential, hospitality or leisure design. Topics covered include report writing, using research to provide business insight and uncover new trends, creating links with industry, developing a brief and concept and strategy development up to concept design stage.
 
This module content is already recorded, the online tutor leads discussions and reviews students work in weekly tutorials and webinars. Students engage with pre-recorded content that has been created by module leaders in the virtual learning environment and work through this during the week in their own time and come together to meet their online tutor for live sessions.
 
As the Online Tutor you will deliver live sessions such as webinars, workshops or tutorials each week to a cohort of students. Around these live sessions you will be responsible for topic discussions, and academic guidance via emails, one to ones and an online learning space. You will work closely with the course leader and module leaders to ensure best possible student experience.

The hours for this role are flexible and spread throughout the week as agreed by your line manager. The flexibility of this role means that you can fit the hours around existing responsibilities. The role compliments individuals who have freelance careers or other teaching commitments. Each online tutor is responsible for no more than 30 students, making this an extremely rewarding role.

The Online Tutor for this module will be allocated 224 hours to support up to 30 students with learning, assessment and feedback, working January 2025 until May 2025.

About You

Educated to degree level, or having equivalent industry experience, the ideal candidate will have experience in working with groups of students from diverse backgrounds at HE level.  Student focused, well organised, and digitally literate you will be running live tutorials, webinars, online workshops and providing support for a group of students. You will have specialist knowledge of working within interior design, in particular, being confident in supporting the development of spatial strategies and working with complex design challenges with final year students.  Candidates with a comprehensive knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD are also welcomed.
 
Previous experience teaching is required as well as excellent communication skills, and the commitment to deliver an excellent online learning experience for students. You will also have knowledge of assessment and pastoral support.

Due to the online nature of this role, it can be worked remotely, however the successful candidate must be based within the UK and be able to start on 13 January 2025.
