About The Role

We’re on the lookout for a proactive and creative Content Officer to create inspirational news stories and written features, predominately for the news pages on our website – falmouth.ac.uk.

The Content Officer will work closely with the wider Marketing team to source, write and publish news stories for use across digital and print projects.  It’s a varied role; one day you might be chatting to students about a project they’re working on to promote a course, the next you might be writing a news story covering the incredible work of a researcher, no two stories are quite the same.

We’re proud that all of our marketing content is planned and executed in-house. From cinematic video to national news coverage, our glossy print prospectus to full lifecycle email marketing and everything in between, we work as a highly effective team. We operate across both our Penryn and Falmouth campuses, representing the University through content that cuts through the noise and represents who we are, and what we stand for: creativity in everything.

This role will be part of the Digital & Content Team, currently 13 people covering all of our public-facing digital marketing activities. We work closely with our in-house Design team and our internal comms and PR teams, to make sure that we’re telling the stories that matter to our audiences.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role will need to be proactive, organised and detail-oriented, with an eye for a story and a flair for writing features. They’ll be comfortable speaking to people: be that students, graduates, staff or our partners to get time-sensitive news stories out the door.

We are looking to hear from candidates who have recent/relevant experience of:

  • Writing creative and engaging features and news articles for digital platforms.
  • Experience of managing editorial content projects, such as gathering quotes, interviewing subjects or following up on story tip-offs.
  • Using an excellent standard of written English to copyedit and proofread content for colleagues.
  • Supporting with copy-based content production on marketing campaigns, alongside our wider Marketing team
When applying, please include a link to your portfolio or examples of your published works alongside your application.

For further details on the skills/experience required for this role, please see the full job description above.

This is a permanent, full time, 35 hours a week position across Monday-Friday, with optional hybrid working. As a team, we currently work a minimum of 2 days per week from our Penryn and Falmouth campuses, or candidates are welcome to work 5 days from campus if preferred.

Please note we are not accepting fully remote applications for this position, due to the need to work directly with students and staff on campus.
