About The Role

We are currently seeking to recruit a Night Services Officer to join our Night Security team. Our student population is incredibly diverse, and we want to ensure this is reflected across our security teams and welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates for this key role.

Our Security Teams are proud of the part they play in keeping both of our campuses safe and enjoyable places to be. As a Night Security Officer working across a variety of academic, social, and residential spaces, no two nights are the same, which makes this an interesting and varied role.

As a friendly, approachable, and professional person with high standards you will take pride in and enjoy working with, and protecting our students, staff, and members of the public, in and around our University Campuses and grounds.

The key responsibilities of this post will include student welfare, pastoral care, and general security of a diverse campus population, providing first aid, attending emergency situations, fire alarm activation and evacuations, dealing with conflict situations and patrolling and securing our university campuses.

About You

We are looking for someone who has experience in working shifts and working with vulnerable young adults. It’s not the typical security job so we need the person with the right balance of customer care, communication skills, resilience, attention for detail and empathy as well as not being afraid to challenge where needed.

The ideal candidate would have the following skills/experience:

  • Experience of dealing with welfare related issues
  • Ability to deal with difficult/challenging situations with confidence, effectively and calmly
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Strong commitment to Health and Safety awareness
A full training package will be provided to ensure you have the knowledge and skills to work in this unique environment. Due to the nature of the role, you will also be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Check.

The hours for this position are 42.46 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off night shift pattern, 12 hours per shift working 19.30pm to 7.30am.
