About The Role

We are now looking to recruit a Technical Assistant to join the Falmouth Campus Technical team to work as part of the technical team to enable the effective and safe operation of the Casting and Mould Making workshops.

The successful candidate will provide a customer focused level of support for the access to and use of technical equipment within the Casting and Mould Making workshops of the 3D workshops at Falmouth Campus. This includes the set-up, maintenance, testing and demonstration of equipment to all stakeholders, including students, teaching and research staff, and external customers and the provision of support for safe allocation and use of relevant materials.

The role holder will also ensure that health and safety practices are followed ensuring the students and workshops are safe, clean and tidy. You will develop knowledge of COSHH and Risk Assessments as well as other safety training.

About You

We are looking for a recent graduate in Fine Art or Prosthetics who has experience of mould making and casting in plaster, silicon, and wax, and experience of, or have an interest in, metal casting.You will be very practical and confident with a wide range of materials and are eager to learn new skills. You will be able to work independently and take instruction. Working as part of a wider 3D workshop team you will be a positive team worker and have excellent communication skills, even in pressured situations when working towards deadlines.

This position is fixed term to September 2023, part-time, 14 hours per week, working Monday and Tuesdays.
