About The Role

We’re now seeking a part-time Robotics Technician to join the fast growing team at Falmouth University’s Games Academy. This is a pivotal role in the department, providing direct support to students and staff, alongside supporting curriculum delivery, and both supporting access to and maintaining the range of facilities and equipment within the department.

You will primarily be working with the BSc(Hons) Robotics course, and contribute to the daily operation of The Games Academy’s robotics lab facility.

About You

The successful candidate for this role will need to be a pro-active “team player” who is conscientious and hard-working who actively plays their part in continuing to make Falmouth University a great place to work. Alongside these core qualities, you’ll have experience in robotics, electrical engineering and embedded development, alongside strong technical and IT skills. Previous experience of working with an education environment would also be desirable.

We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:

  • Experience of working on robotics/automation projects
  • Experience of C/C++ and Python/JavaScript development for embedded environments such as microcontrollers and single board computers such as Raspberry Pi
  • Strong electronics prototyping skills encompassing circuit design and troubleshooting
  • Experience of servicing and maintaining workshop facilities with a strong emphasis on health and safety
  • Excellent communication skills, exemplifying patience and understanding of students’ higher education journey
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, with a drive to learn new skills, hardware, software and techniques in the robotics sphere
