As well as experience in working professionally with adults or young people in a teaching role, you will have membership of a professional body and qualifications as recognised within the “DfE Mandatory Criteria” for Specialist study skills tutors (document available to download from
Mandatory Qualifications (The details of accepted professional membership bodies are on pp 12 to 17).
We are particularly interested in hearing from study skills tutors who are qualified and experienced in supporting students with both autism and SpLDs, but we also welcome applications from tutors who are qualified and experienced in either area individually.
Qualifications and requirements:
- SpLD Study Skills Tutors must hold professional membership with one of the following bodies:
The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
The British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
Professional Association of Specific Learning Difference Specialists in Higher Education (PASSHE), formerly known as (ADSHE)
The Dyslexia Guild (DG)
Please make it clear in your application whether you already hold the appropriate qualifications or are currently working towards them.
You will be a confident and competent IT user with experience of using CRMs and applications such as Microsoft Office. You will also have a good knowledge of using and incorporating Assistive Technology (AT) within the study skills session.

This post is offered on a casual hourly paid basis, but we are particularly interested in hearing from people who could offer a minimum of 10 to 12 contact hours per week during term time.
